CHECKING YOUR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE APPLICATION STATUS
Coloradans are now able to check the status of their Medical Assistance Application (includes Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+)) by calling 1-800-359-1991 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday (closed State holidays). Customer service representatives will be on hand to assist with identifying the status of a caller’s application, and if needed, obtain the information needed to process their application. Applicants will need to provide their Application Tracking Number, found on the final screen of the online application when they call.
Federal law requires all applicants seeking financial assistance to help buy insurance through the Connect for Health Colorado marketplace be screened for Medicaid first. Once it is determined a person does not qualify for Medicaid, the individual can then apply for financial assistance to buy insurance through the Connect for Health Colorado marketplace.
Federal law allows states up to 45 days for eligibility determinations. In Colorado, the average processing time for a Medical Assistance application is 16 days. It is important for all applications to include accurate and complete information in order to receive an immediate eligibility determination. There are more than 60 reasons, from an incorrect social security to name or other information that is not verifiable that can cause an application to not receive an immediate decision.

MEDICAID BENEFITS FOR NEWLY MEDICAID ELIGIBLE
Beginning January 1, 2014, more Coloradans will be newly eligible for free or low cost coverage through Medicaid. The benefit package for newly eligible Medicaid clients will be largely the same as the current Medicaid benefits, including the new dental benefit and enhanced mental health and substance use disorder benefit.
